How accurate is Yahoo maps travel times for Los Angeles?
Everyone talks about the horrible traffic in Los Angeles but on Yahoo Maps from the places I plan on staying to the attractions it says about 20 minutes. That's not bad to me. Is that accurate?

- Mapping sites don't typically take traffic into account when giving you travel time... I'm sure that 20-minute trip could take well over an hour in bad traffic.
- Hello, I live in the Los Angeles area and if you have any questions that I can help you with just let me know.
- The Yahoo maps tell you how long it would take you on a perfect day, without road construction, traffic, detours, car accidents, and whatever else. With most big city's though, it is going to take you longer because of the items listed above, so when making travel plans, you should also plan on these details or they become a major headache later on, especially the traffic accidents, which will slow you down. Good luck, and hope you enjoy L.A.
- If you are travelling during rush hour (6-10AM, 3-8PM on weekdays) it can take an hour to go one mile in LA. Always allow a lot more time to be safe - if you really want to get some place on time.
- The times are based on the ability to actually move 65 mph, which of course, you can't. try this site: http://www.dot.ca.gov/ or sigalert.com
